The rains have finally eased so I've decided not to upgrade to that Ark after all. I'm also no good with wood building tools and I don't really understand how large a "cubit" is. The sun and heat are here! It's time to enjoy some racing and CHESSS Challenges!
But first, some important news-
The board is nearly complete with the incorporation and insurance initiatives approved by the membership at the March General Meeting. All that remains, is to file our 501c3 paperwork and to purchase insurance.
We have commenced our first year of dues collection in the form of invoices emailed from our new, official email address: firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have not received an invoice and would like to become a Regular member in good standing, please email the board at email@example.com and let us know. If you are an out-of-area sailor who is interested in CHESSS, you can elect to become a Corresponding Member, which pays no dues. Corresponding Membership is an administrative category and those members may not participate in CHESSS races, or serve on the board.
I've received a lot of reports of the invoices being sent to members' SPAM folders or not arriving at all. Be sure to check your SPAM folder, and contact me for an invoice if you didn't receive yours. We'll need to do a little email exchange so that you can set firstname.lastname@example.org as one of your "trusted" email addresses.
Now, back to the races and news:
Bob Dunigan took 3rd place in CRCA aboard his fleet-footed J/124 "Jane Says" in the Annapolis to Bermuda Race. Joel Aronson was beset by considerable equipment failures and retired. After a slow start, the racers encountered 40-50 knot winds during a short storm that caused considerable breakages among the fleet. Although this wasn't a Bermuda 1-2 year, Bob and Joel proudly flew the CHESSS burgee.
The Solomon's CHESSS Challenge is next weekend, June 23rd. Please register via the link on the website: www.chbaysss.org under "Events."
The Northeast Bay Regatta is June 30th/July 1st. Sponsor Joe Borrison has this to say:
A few of you have e-mailed stating there are no registrants yet for CHESSS for Northern Bay Regatta.
If you are viewing on the Regatta Network you are correct as none have registered via the network. Why? To be able to submit your entry for half price you have to mail it to Glenn Harvey whose name and address are provided in the NOR and SI. Regatta Networks will not provide 50% off registration fee for first timers.
Send in your registration! Half price ain’t bad!
As an FYI the SI do state a CHESSS start on Sunday as well as Saturday but I have not heard that anyone from CHESSS is competing on Sunday. (Neither am I)
Sooooo You could cut the grass, trim the hedges, go shoe shopping, or come race above the bridge. No sea nettles, almost no power boats, moderate current, guaranteed 10 knots of wind, and always sunny. And I bet your boat has cold beer.
The sailing instructions do have some edits coming. Start will be near 7 foot Knoll. Region 1 marks only to avoid confusion. Minimum distance will be 12 miles and we hope for longer.

See you out there!
