Happy Holidays from CHESSS

Dear CHESSSmates,

As 2018 winds down, I wanted to send a note of thanks and convey my wishes for a happy holiday season and a Happy New Year to all of you.

2018 was a rough year, with conditions that were not very conducive to sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. This really impacted our ability to come together and enjoy the camaraderie that our organization normally fosters.

A word about the upcoming 2019 season- It is my hope that weather next year will be better. We continue to have new members join, which indicates a strong, steady interest in the practices of shorthanded sailing. We (the board) intend to finally host our own, exclusive, solo and doublehanded events next year in addition to participating in CBYRA sanctioned events on the Bay. We're going to combine CHESSS Challenges with existing social and community events happening on the Chesapeake to provide fun and interesting activities at the destinations (wine tasting, crab feasting, historical and environmental interpretation, etc). It is our hope that linking these activities with our Challenge sails will provide an incentive to participate.

Again, Happy Holidays from the board of CHESSS and a Happy New Year!
