Alright, the first race is loaded and "in the chute." Here's the link to register:
WRSC Shorthand Classic
As always, we GREATLY appreciate electronic registration. We use Regattanetwork for scoring as well, so we're just going to manually input your boat anyway. We do accept checks for entry fees if you're shy about making financial transactions online.
If (a big if) enough boats sign up, we will attempt to break out the classes into (Solo/Spin), (Solo/JAM), (Double/Spin), (Double/Jam) and (Multi). I'd need 5 boats per class in order to go forward with this. We're talking 20 boats which is very, very possible. We've had a lot of new members sign up this winter. This is our chance to break out into classes that offer the most equitable racing yet!
Reminder: The Union Jack's Social Event has been shifted to Sunday, April 9th from 2pm until 5pm. This is to keep the event clear of Easter weekend when many people travel. You don't have to stay for the whole event, we'd be happy if people rotate through. We'll be handing out burgees to everyone who ordered them, that also attends the party.
North Point Yacht Sales is hosting an evening with Ken Read and Jeff Johnstone- Presidents of North Sails and J/Boats. CHESSS will be there with a display to promote the club. Cost is $10 to attend. Cocktail hour from 6pm-7pm. Presentation and Q&A from 7pm-9pm.
While our Outreach member, Chuck Scheaffer was busy having the burgees produced, our "French Connection" Frédéric Waniart suggested the idea of a "Victory Flag" that is immediately awarded to the winner of a race. It's up to him/her to defend their possession of the Victory Flag at future races, lest it be taken away. Chuck has produced a victory flag and we'll explain the "rules of possession" at the Union Jack's party and in future newsletters.
Get your boats ready, get motivated, get on the starting line!
