The race schedule for 2019 is posted on the web home page. It is a rather ambitious schedule and we do not expect that everyone will participate in every race. Rather, we hope that you all will look at the schedule and coalesce around some of these races in high numbers instead of spreading ourselves very thin across a large number of races.
Our constitution requires us to hold bi-annual meetings each year. We'll put out notice of the spring meeting soon. We currently have no new initiatives to put before the members for a vote but the board always reports on the club finances and we'd like to discuss who is coming to the races and to discuss non-racing events as well. Several members voiced a desire for more social interactions at the last meeting, so we're working on that.
There seems to be a consensus that last year's participation was very low due to persistent, poor weather conditions and debris in the bay. We are hoping that last year was an anomaly and that we can get back to normal this year.
Lastly, I'll be firing off dues invoices for the 2019 membership year shortly. If you do not receive an invoice by the end of February, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can correct the issue. Remember, $40/year to support our ability to sponsor our own races, host interesting guest speakers at our meetings and keep the web presence humming, social events and hopefully trophies! The board will continue to work to improve upon the value that you get for your money.
According to Punxsutawney Phil, spring is just around the corner so I hope you're all thinking of launching preparations!
